The BIG FAT LIES Of AIT In ‘The Real Buhari’ Documentary EXPOSED!

By on February 1, 2015

Ordinarily, we can all understand that AIT as a privately owned TV Station, is entitled to collect money to advertise or air anything it wants on its privately owned radio station. However, when it comes to public issues, news or matters affecting the destiny of our nation, it should be a criminal act for a nationally licensed TV Station to allow itself to be used shamelessly to propagate falsehood against a contestant in the Nigerian elections.

The truth is that AIT, as one of the most widely watched TV stations in Nigeria, has a serious responsibility to inform Nigeria only of FACTS, and not be complicit in any nefarious attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of unsuspecting Nigerians, who trust his station to report the news to them daily.

With this betrayal of trust by AIT, one can only thank God that there were people alive and well at the relevant periods in history to debunk the sham being recycled by AIT, and its hatchet men, for filthy lucre. I congratulate all those who have done their fact-checks, people like El Rufai, Gidado and SIrajo Mohammed, and many others like them who have gone out on a limb to put the lie to this travesty occurring in our nation by a supposedly independent TV station.

Since I have learnt NEVER to accept anything at face value in Nigeria anymore, particularly from corrupt journalists and politicians on either side, I have also taken the time to watch the much talked about 55 minute documentary on Mohammed Buhari for myself, to see what the fuss was all about. I have also done my own fact-checks on some of the points raised, and I can say without any fear of contradiction that AIT LIED MANY TIMES IN THAT 55MIN HATCHET JOB ON BUHARI, or was grossly negligent or careless about the truth, in at least 8 or 9 MAJOR ways in  ‘The Real Buhari’ documentary.

As a lawyer who understand the implications of calling anyone a liar, I will give the PROOF right now about the 9 things things that documentary lied about, and then challenge the whole AIT crew, lawyers and owners, to call me out or sue me for libel if they dared.

Each of the Big Fat Lies I have identified are VERIFIABLE facts that people can check for themselves by simply going online and checking the archives, or by searching for newspapers and TV programs for the relevant period. The people at AIT should know by now, that in this internet age, anyone can access information that only few people had previously, WITH VERY LITTLE HARD-WORK,

So, here are the 9 shameful lies that AIT and its reporters who put together that show of shame called a documentary tried to impose on Nigerians:

BIG FAT LIE #1: THE DOCUMENTARY CLAIMED THE MAITATSINE RIOTS STARTED DURING BUHARI REGIME – A simple-fact check online will reveal that the Maitatsine riots started in 1980, and the riots in which over 3,000 people died actually occurred from 1975 -1982, many years before Buhari came to power. In fact, Maitatsine was KILLED in one of the riots in 1980 though some of his adherents still did some damage up to 1984. Anyone can read the genesis, history and demise of  the Maitatsine Sect at: and other respected websites on the internet.

Truth be told, unlike the lack luster campaign we have witnessed under Jonathan against the Boko Haram sect, the Maitatsine sect was actually CRUSHED during the Buhari regime, and its leaders scattered to Cameroon, when Buhari sent an overwhelming military force to confront them in 1984. Again, this happened in my school activism days so I know what I am talking about. Also, the objective history books and websites still online support this history. Yet, AIT shamelessly tried to claim that religious riots started under Buhari.

BIG FAT LIE #2.THE DOCUMENTARY CLAIMED BUHARI EXPELLED GHANIANS FROM NIGERIA – This is also a verifiable lie. Simply Google or ask any Ghanaian old enough at the time. It was President Shehu Shagari of NPN who first expelled over 1,000,000 Ghanaians in 1983 in the infamous ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ inicdent, as some sort of retaliation for what the Ghanaians did to Nigeria in 1969. This was BEFORE Buhari came to power.  You can check the facts yourself from this 1983 story by New York Times:

BIG FAT LIE #3. THE DOCUMENTARY CLAIMED GLORIA OKOH, THE DRUG CARIRER DISAPPEARED FROM JUSTICE UNDER BUHARI – Another lie from the pit of hell. We all know the Gloria Okon fake ‘death’ and disappearance saga happened under Ibrahim Babanginda after he overthrew Buhari. In fact, the late Dele Giwa was rumored to have been bombed to eternity AFTER Buhari had been overthrown, for being too nosy about what really happened. I remember very well how Gani Fawehinmi fought a gallant battle to bring the perpetrators to justice. Again, the person most people accused at the time was Ibrahim Babangida, who overthrew Buhari, and NOT Buhari himself.

BIG FAT LIE #4. THE DOCUMENTARY CLAIMED FELA IDENTIFIED BUHARI IN THE $2.8BILLION OIL MONEY SCANDAL IN HIS SONG– This is a big lie. Fela’s song about the missing money is still available EVERYWHERE. I have a copy of it and have listened to it again just in case I didn’t listen well before. Truth is FELA NEVER MENTINED BUHARI’S NAME. He only mentioned OBJ and ABIOLA. Of course the AIT people disingenuously edited that part of the tape out when they played Fela’s music in their documentary. This is definite proof they DELIBERATELY LIED otherwise why not let the song play to the point where names were mentioned?

BIG FAT LIE #5. THE DOCUMENTARY CLAIMED THAT BUHARI HAD A HAND IN THE DEATH OF FELA’S MOTHER- FUNMILAYO RANSOME KUTI. Again, a simple fact check by my 6 year old daughter would reveal that Fela’s mother died after Olusegun Obasanjo invaded the KALAKUTA Republic of Fela in 1978. It was OBJ that ordered the house of his former Abeokuta Baptist Grammar School mate to be burnt down over his criticism of OBJ government. I remember that one very well because our house was a walking distance from Fela’s shrine then and we all rushed to witness the ‘unknown soldier’ saga play out in living colors and I saw Fela’s mother actually being thrown out of the window from upstairs by soldiers loyal to OBJ. Fela even released a song about it WELL BEFORE Buhari even came power more than 6 years later in 1984.

BIG FAT LIE #6. THE DOCUMENTARY CLAIMED BUHARI IMPRISONED INNOCENT POLITICIANS. This is one of the most unfortunate lies of the whole sordid documentary. The fact of history shows that All Politicians that was sentenced to prison by the 1984 Military Tribunal were found to have either enriched themselves with public funds or diverted public funds. None of them were convicted by fiat. Even the President Jonathan they were trying to help did not really say the politicians were innocent. He only said there should have been a difference between STEALING AND FRAUD! He said someday stole ‘only N5m’ and was given 15 years jail or someone stole money that was not enough to buy a Volkswagen and was sentenced to life. LWKMD! A government thief is a THIEF, whether N1 or N100M. THEY WERE ALL TRIED, not by Buhari but by a properly constituted tribunal, even though it was a military tribunal. In any case, how any sane person who was an adult in 1983 could argue that people like Umaru Dikko, Akinloye, Ambrose ALLI and even Ekwueme were innocent is beyond me.

BIG FAT LIE #7. THE DOCUMENTARY CLAIMED THAT BUHARI HAS BEEN LOSING SINCE Buhari 1999. This is a lie. Buhari’s first shot was in 2003. In 1999, it was Chief Olu Falae of ANPP/AD that contested against Obj. In any case why does it matter if he contested so many times and lost? Many great leaders have lost countless elections before finally getting a chance. Even the Great Obafemi Awolowo and the Great Nnamdi Azikiwe also contested many times too without winning, but I don’t see AIT criticizing that!

BIG FAT LIE #8. THE DOCUMENTARY CRITICISED BUHARI FOR HIS STEWARDSHIP OF PTF –Yet the truth remains that he was vigorously investigated by the vengeful OBJ and NOTHING was found on him. Even OBJ recently confessed that the Fraud investigation report did not find anything against Buhari. Still that did not stop the lying journalists at AIT from claiming he was corrupt as the PTF leader though they could not show any proof.

BIG FAT LIE #9. THE DOCUMENTARY CLAIMED THAT BUHARI OWNED AND BENEFITED FROM AFRI-PROJECTS CONSORTIUM SCANDALS– While I definitely agree that the Afri-Project Consortium did a poor job with the enormous responsibilities it was given as consultants by the PTF, there is no shred of evidence to suggest that Buhari is one of its owners or that he personally benefited from their operations. It is a testament to the deception behind this hogwash documentary that the narrator kept saying ‘APC’ in its presentation of Afri-Projects Consortium to somehow connect the company with APC on a mental level. What a shame.

The truth behind this big fat lie is that Afri-Projects Consortium Ltd is a registered company in Nigeria and the AIT should have published their Form CO2 AND C07 to show us the real owners. Buhari has constantly challenged everyone to show proof of any ill-gotten wealth in his hands and nobody, including the AIT crew, has been able to do that. The man still lives in a modest house, and remains the only former head of state without mansions in Abuja or elsewhere, and yet these idiots would want us to believe he stole billions of dollars

Having exposed the Big Fat Lies of AIT in this piece, I will like to end by pointing out the poetic justice that nemesis has already meted to Jonathan and AIT for this hatchet job.

Right after running their sham documentary for the umpteenth time, they decided to run a flash poll for Nigerians to choose who their President should be between Jonathan and Buhari. To their shock and amazement, they poll showed that over 70% of the people who voted on the AIT  Poll still preferred Buhari regardless of the shameful lies against him!

With serious egg on their face, and public embarrassment brought on by the fact that their little cheap ploy has backfired, the AIT hurriedly removed the poll and claimed their poll was hacked!

When challenged, they foolishly supplied a text file to show how the ‘hacking was done’. To add insult to injury, some good tech people have been able to demonstrate that AIT even that document of proof of hacking, was forged by AIT too! Yes, in case you have not read it, one of the more reputable Nigerian internet personalities out there, Gbenga Sesan, was able to demonstrate, in black and white examination of the data, that the so-called evidence of ‘hacking’ released by AIT was FORGED! Again, don’t take my word for it, simply go to Gbenga Sesan’s data analysis on his twitter handle to see for yourself.

The fact that President Jonathan and his paid supporters are desperate to win at all costs is all too obvious, even to the blind. It is really annoying that every time you ask Jonathan’s supporters to give you a lucid reason why Jonathan should be returned for another 4 years, all they keep saying is ‘Buhari was a dictator and an Islamist’. Essentially, their strategy remains, ‘Vote for Jonathan because Buhari is bad’. What an embarrassment!

Really, someone needs to tell President Goodluck Jonathan and his hapless strategists that the Red-herring argument will not work this time around. Nigerians have seen Jonathan for what he is in the last 6 years, and no amount of red-herring will change the minds of right thinking people about him. President Jonathan needs to go back to Utueke and let some else try to set the ship of our country straight from the disastrous waters that he, and his Cabal of Corruption, have sailed us into in the last 6 years.

This may be HardTalk, but it is True-Talk nevertheless.

That just simply cheap black mail. people want a government that has the will to put an end to killings and corrupt practices in high places that is ravaging our dear country. please read this report from one of the dailies.

ongoing investigation by SaharaReporters has revealed that former Education Minister Nyesom Wike and Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, collaborated in a number of schemes that enabled them to loot the resources of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The commission, which was established to spearhead economic development in Nigeria’s oil-producing delta, has been left financially insolvent, unable for the first time ever to pay salaries to its staff or to meet its obligations to contractors.

        Patience Jonathan

Over a two-week investigation, insiders within the commission told SaharaReporters that Mrs. Jonathan and Mr. Wike, current governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party in Rivers State, caused a large part of the commission’s current woes.

A source at the commission alleged that its management gave Mrs. Jonathan N3 billion immediately after the National Assembly approved the commission’s budget. “They said the First Lady had facilitated the passage of the NDDC’s budget without delay by the National Assembly. That’s why they gave her such a huge sum. The payment was recorded as a consultancy undertaking,” the source said.

In addition, money drained from the agency is reportedly bankrolling Mr. Wike’s governorship bid. “Barrister Wike is using billions of naira from the NDDC to run his campaign. It is one of the major reasons that the commission has not been able to honor its obligations or pay salaries,” another source at the commission stated.

Numerous sources said Mr. Wike had handpicked Itotenaan Henry Ogiri as the agency’s executive director (in charge of finance and administration). The understanding was that Mr. Ogiri, a close associate of the Ikwerre-born governorship aspirant, would dip into the funds of the commission to help finance Mr. Wike’s campaign.

Bassey Dan Abia, a lawyer from Akwa Ibom State, heads the commission’s management, which is in its second year. Several disaffected staffers accused the management of financing other political projects across the Niger Delta, contrary to its mandate.

Mr. Wike’s campaign is said to enjoy a huge war chest from the commission’s funds. The former Education Minister, who is being backed by Mrs. Jonathan, showers tons of dollars, his preferred currency, on his supporters and underlings, including some ex-militants he has retained to intimidate supporters of his political opponents.

For the first time since then President Olusegun Obasanjo rebranded the commission in 2000, the NDDC missed the timetable to pay workers’ salary in January. In addition, senior staff of the commission said they were distressed that their housing, furniture and other allowances have not been paid for the first time since the establishment of the agency.

A long time staff of the commission said this was the first time in his experience that the agency had failed to pay salaries in more than a decade. “I was employed here immediately after I graduated from the University and the NDDC started the graduate-training scheme. We have never been owed salary ever. We used to receive our salaries no later than the 22nd of every month. But right now we don’t even know when it is coming,” he said.

Another staff said the board of the commission was filled with politicians who are bankrolling the political aspirations of their puppet masters.

“We got over 400 billion naira for our budget last year. But look at the situation we are in now. It’s so embarrassing,” the staff said. He said the board members were mere proxies who take orders on how to run the agency from outsiders who are only interested in what they can get from the commission.

“They are running this place like a fiefdom, and they receive orders from the politicians that put them here. They have given all the money to their political bosses and now we are in trouble here.”

Occupants of the commission’s top management posts, including its chairman (from Cross River State), its executive director for projects (from Delta State), and its managing director (from Akwa Ibom) were accused of funneling funds to partisan political candidates. The governors of their state of origin nominated members of the management board, except in the case of Rivers State, where Mr. Wike chose. President Jonathan and Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers have been in a long running political feud.

The NDDC was set up to fund projects designed to ameliorate the environmental degradation in the Niger Delta caused by oil exploration. The area produces more than 80% of Nigeria’s wealth.

A staff source said that, while their salaries have not been paid, the management of the commission was promising them a significant bump in salaries and allowances if Mr. Jonathan wins re-election on February 14.

“They keep telling us to expect a lot of goodies when the present president is returned as the country’s ruler, but does it mean we have to die of hunger because they’re doing election?” the source said.

          Guy I fear o….I cant see it straight…what is wrong with some Nigerians…How old is Obama, Cameroon, Putin,etc Presidents of countries we are aspiring to be like. They are young, matured and energetic. Why is Africa going for Old cargos who have only war brains and not Modern ideology. I listen to Buharri interview about his days as an army officer and his future aspiration…Dear this man is good but not what Nigerians want for the next 8 years. ask me why;

Buharri thinks and talks like a General (Commanding and temperamental) but Nigerians needs an ideologist who is not quick to judge following his emotions. But someone who listens and tackle issue organically. The issue of corruption, terrorism, infrastructure etc are not things you tackle following you emotions but looking at it organic cause.

Buharri is under too much control now. As at 2007 Buharri was driving himself but to day he has too many big God fathers that can not hesitate to seek favours if he wins. And they know his weakness and callous personality. And are breading heavily to capitalise on it.

Buharri may not hit 80years, if he can why not use it to have a good rest. these people know this and have already plan strategies to topple his government. No matter how araldite his may sound now, his health is depreciated and he knows that.

Why didn’t APC chose Lagos state governor-Fasoye or Lamido or younger energetic promising leader. They want to appease Muslims who all they want to hear is Buharri (Muslim) and his picture not about his capacity now. 80% of Muslims are below the read-write benchmark and convincing them of anything other than the picture of Buharri is like pouring water on a waterproof material. If you Print the name of fasoya (lagos govn) and picture of Buharri in a poster (no need of putting party logo of type) 70% of Muslims will vote for the sake of Buharri’s picture. Why? he his the muslim they know. the ideology of Islam in Nigeria is if you are not a Hausa muslim you are as good as a christain. So Tinubu can never win a vote in the north. They will even tear his poster if they see it anywhere. But the west(APC) are a wise people, well educated…they are very sure they wont be able to go round the Igbo’s (South) now as before. So they prefer to stay with the uneducated but populated North (though bokos are reducing the population). They west have nothing to lose if Buharri wins because he will not have the energy to command I60 million souls.

The climax of the matter is that Buharri is only interested in fulfilling a personal ambition before he departs earth (president of Nigeria) he is not concern about any benefits to his people or kinsmen.

Too bad for the young people…Man let me go get my voters card o…wish everyone goodluck. Buharri or GEJ. NO man want die but they want go heaven. how na?

    Dr Banwo,

Why did it take you this long to do this? Why? Why?

The country heads to destruction in stormy waters and with a drunk intoxicated with power at its helm yet the people cry his name in glory.

The church has sold our birthright! Where is Ayo Oritsejajor? Where’s the Bosun liar? If you listen to his purported message you will tell he’s advocating CAN. These are people who profess a form of godliness but deny the power thereof.

They don’t realize falsification and fabrication is bearing of false witness against their neighbors?

I live overseas. Jonathan has made us a laughing stock. I was in the country during OBJ. I recall the influx of investment into the country. That was when Nigeria hosted CHOGM. We could hold our head with pride despite some of the obvious failings of the government of the day.

But today, we are seem as a joke, a very crude joke for that matter and that Goofer wants a second term.

Anyway, thanks for the courage to write. But my concern is the people who know the truth won’t vote come February 14. How do we cause the much needed change?

Gej preach cashless economy and he was fond in $9.3m scandal till this moment no one hear anything about that again he also he fight corruption in agricultural sector that farmers get their faterlizers for Heven sake is it faterlizers problems Nigeria is facing I can still stand here today that all the rice we ate during Xmas and new year period plus the one you have left at home were all imported into this country and your so call Gej said he improved agriculture he ones said NEPA as improved but the budget for diesel to power asorock is increasing every year yet you tell Nigerians NEPA as improved Nigerians are not fools imagine the so call Gej contracted the security of waterways to a notorious militants of Niger delta call TOMPOLO while well trained Nigerian Navy are in the country is it not better we contracted security of this country to BOKO HARAM if so call Gej can commit waterways into the hands of militants that Vanderlize the waterways and NNPC pipes if all this happened within 4 to 6 year regime of so call Gej and we forgive and forget then I hug very Nigerians to equally forgive and forget whatever might have happened 30 to 35yrs ago and join hands for a positive change God bless Nigeria

A govt that drained our foreign reserves, made us buy 1 Dollar at the rate of 210 naira from 128, a govt that made we graduates not any different from people that did not attend schs? A govt who has made Nigerian in other country a laughing stalk, A govt who didn’t see it necessary to visit the parents of the kidnapped girls until after 297 days wen he wanted to campaigned for re-election? Who ever votes for this govt shall be kidnapped so shall his/her children in Jesus name! This was why Buari was brutal to the currupt leaders then, so that we won’t be in a mess as a country.. The level of curruptions then was a child’s play compared to what they do now and not one person had been prosecuted. Yeah my Bassey I have double checked and I have posted at Hew York times report of 1983 that is still online. Do u care to quote or to provide evidence where I am wrong?

It is tiring when people just come and say something is a lie but are too lazy to do simple research. The expulsion of Ghanaians was started by Shagari though the rest were taken out after BUHARI came to power

Also Maitataine himself was killed on 1980 BEFORE BUHARI came to power. So AIT lied to claim it was during his time the terrorism thing started . Buhari sent soldiers against them in Yola in 1984 and lots of people were killed too but it is a lie to say it started under BUHARI

to hell with AIT,BADLUCK JONATHAN AND ALL THEIR CREW.i dont care about whatever the documentary is all about and whatever it preaches, 1 thing that remains constant in this life is change, its high time nigerians should wake up cos i see nothing good about the regime of mr badluck jonathan.he is the worst president nigeria ever is under his regime that they mstarted selling all government parastartals, so what does the idiot have to was under the regime of buhari that Nigeria got new aircraft for the nigerian airways which is now of blessed memory should we call that development. No matter what the say and what they do,me and my family will vote for buhari cos he is just the perfect man for the job.Well i dont blame badluck jonathan much cos when a man cannot even take care of his family and also got an illiterate fellow as a wife who cant even stand to represent nigeria women in the international community, then what do u expect? its time for change and the change is now.SAI BABA………..SAI BUHARI.

I dont know the amount of preaching from/by any mortal that can change my decision on this matter. All what i know is, GEJ is failure! Instead of promoting Nigeria, he is demoting it (he should know it well that there is GOD and He’s a righteous Judge). Anybody that support or vote for Jonathan is either brainwashed or enemy of this nation Nigeria. I can boldly say it, GMB is our next president! they rely on rigging but i want to know how they will succeed without Nigerians discover it. My message goes to the INEC, they should fear GOd and remember the future of their children. God bless Nigeria

  22. Dr Ope Banwo

    February 2, 2015 at 4:02 pm

VIctor, I have quoted my souces. CAN YOU PLEASE QUOTE YOUR OWN? I maintain that it was SHEHU SHAGARI that first EXPELLED OVER 2 MILLION GHANIANS IN FEB OF 1983…

HERE IS A quote DIRECTLY from the website of NEW YORK TIMES WEBSTIE ON FEB 2ND 1983 (this was months BEFORE buhari came to power)… “Some two million unskilled foreign workers living illegally in Nigeria were ordered to start leaving by Monday. At least half of them were Ghanaians, and others were from Mali, Chad, Niger, Upper Volta, Benin and Togo. Under international and African pressure, President Shehu Shagari of Nigeria extended the expulsion deadline for skilled foreigners, mostly schoolteachers, until March 1.

President Shagari announced the expulsions Jan. 17, saying the foreigners were the cause of economic problems and religious and racial unrest. 16 Reported to Have Died
One refugee, Kofi Mensah, 20 years old, said he had been walking for three days. He said he had been a chauffeur for the director of a factory in Lagos. He went to Lagos three months ago, he said, because he could not find work in Accra, his hometown. In Lagos, he earned the equivalent of about $200 a month and had Sundays off. He said that if he found work at all in Accra, it would not pay him even half that much.

He said he had been surprised by the expulsion order and had feared prison, or worse, if he tried to stay in Nigeria. He said many of the foreigners felt their expulsion was a result not so much of the depressed Nigerian economy, because falling world oil prices, as of internal Nigerian politics. ‘Because of the Elections’

National elections are scheduled in Nigeria for August or September. According to Western diplomats and African officials, President Shagari fears the continued presence of the foreign workers, some of whom were involved in public disorders stemming from religious and tribal disputes, especially in the north of the country. More such trouble could threaten the President’s reelection, the diplomats say.

”It is because of the elections,” Mr. Mensah said, when asked why the foreigners were expelled. But he added that he was glad to go home. ”I love my country more than I love money,” he said.

There has been no official count, but Western diplomats and African and Ghanaian officials say that probably 500,000 Ghanaians have already made the 300-mile road trip from Lagos to Accra. Airline flights to Accra are rare and overbooked. Little Criticism in Africa

The leaders of other African nations have so far been virtually silent and uncritical of Nigeria’s action. The Community of West African States, of which Nigeria is a member, held a meeting a week ago and asked President Shagari to reconsider his decision, but did not criticize it….

The Organization of African Unity has sent a delegation to Lagos to investigate the situation. The O.A.U.’s Secretary General, Edem Kodjo, of Togo, has refrained from criticizing Nigeria, calling only for ”humanitarian treatment” of the expelled workers.”

FULL REPORT IS HERE: As you can that report was written in FEB OF 1983 before Buhari came to power. SO all the lies the jonathan tried to put on WIkipedia will not work!

Dr.Banwo, really you were a kid at the time those things you were not aware of but, trying to defend them, especially ‘the Ghana must go’,saga.I can say 85% of what you saw in the documentary did happen during Buhari’s military regim.People lived in fear then:freedom was curtailed, when he was toppled there was a big heave of relief in every quarter of the nation, people danced, celebrated along the streets of Nigeria.Through out the 70s,it was rebuilding and reconstructions and rehabilitation. These extended to early 80s(1980-1983).Religious riot started with Buhari’s regime later in 1983.So vote GEJ for President.

    • Dr. Sam

      February 4, 2015 at 12:25 pm

Using the performance management process,GEJ has failed woefully and his fellow Ijaw men and women have attested to it. But because of sentiments and tribal connections, some will like to hide the fact that he failed. The annoying thing to me being a fellow Niger Deltan, giving our waterways security to a criminal like Tompolo when we have Nigerian Navy that Nigeria maintains with tax payers money. GEj, Kai u no try at all. U are loosing credibility by the day, and note that after the election and u loose, pls pls pls for the sake of the country, do not contest the result. Am beginning to see that, you are not likely to win but if you will win, it is CERTAINLY not going to be easy for u unlike in 2011. And for AIT, you disappointed a lot of Nigerians and others around the world. Will suggest to your Management, that those responsible for this show of shame should be sacked out rightly.

The story sweet until it got to where you talked about imprisoning politicians, are you naive to say that the tribunal was not bias????? Under a military government … and the AIT are all same

    • Dr. Ope Banwo

      February 3, 2015 at 11:38 pm

I never said tribunals are the best way to go but how do you deal with corrupt politicians if you are a military man? Rawlings KILLED all the corrupt politicians when he came to power in Ghana and Nigerians hailed him at the time. Criminals who send our youths to unemployment and a future of poverty do not deserve my support and if it takes a tribunal to take care of them, then so be it.

And by the way, BUHARI used tribunals becos that’s what military people do. Right now, he is campaigning as a civilian and not military man and it does not make sense to try to scare people that he would behave as he did as military head of state in a setting that we have now. That’s my point

You can’t accusing others of lies and lie at the same time. You said those supporting Jonathan are saying we should vote for him because Buhari is bad. You know that is a big fat lie. A lot o’s achievements were attributed to Jonathan in all the sectors. For me, I benefited from the east west road, fuel availability and host of others. To tell you the truth, I have over 95% power availability because I am connected to the 33kva line. That tells me that the problem is with distribution in LV lines which destroyed by reckless drivers, illegal connections and overload. Moreover, it has been privatised but we still have a bunch of incompetent Nigerians managing the sector. As for Buhari, he started the damaging attack on GEJ. Now you are crying because he has been given the pill he was forcing down other’s throat. Can someone tell us his the achievements while he ruled? He was given a second chance to prove himself with PTF and he failed woefully. Now you blame his consultant while gave him credit for Idiagbon’s achievements. This is double standard. You claim to tell the truth but your write up is heavily biased. You are poised to disagree with everyone that disagrees with you or has a counter opinion. That is the quality of all dictators like Buhari. Why don’t you relax and others air their views rather than standing by to defend your position or attack others that have contrary opinion? Let me tell you, it is the consciousness of the led that determines the leader. Remember the story of how God hardened the heart of Pharaoh to punish the Isrealites. We will be given a leader that we deserve. Come to think of it, a tree cannot make a forest. Buhari is surrounded by wolves in the likes of Tinubu and Atiku. Just as you are exoneration Buhari by blaming the consultant in his shameful performance at PTF, that is how you will try to defend him when the wolves that will work with him will pounce on Nigerians. So, this is a case of a kettle calling put black. I will conclude by saying that you are not different if you continue with this defensive and aggressive attitude with these your truthful lies carefully crafted to bias Nigerians towards your personal goal. I rest my case. I didn’t proof read and so apologise for typo errors.

Personally, a giraffe could be running against the current administration and I’d vote the giraffe, without feeling sad or sorry. I mean, look at Nigeria 6 years ago and now. Look at lives lost, the economic situation, power, everything. I’m sure i heard he said he’d be ‘ a one-term president’ what good is a man who cannot keep to his own words.
I am not as old as 95% of you here, but I know this for sure, as a nation we have to rise above ethnic and religious inclinations, we breathe the same air, eat the same food, nobody who needs blood transfusion goes to the hospital and says ‘hey doc, give me nupe, Christian blood’ so those things shouldn’t cloud our judgements when we’re making decisions that concern the lives of our families and unborn generation.
on a final note, i think the basis of a valid argument is proof, so if you think someone’s argument is flawed, provide proof, resulting to cheap insults is just proof that you can’t handle the truth the other party is dishing.
Big ups to the writer of this wonderful piece. God bless Nigeria

What Do You Have to Say About This?

According to Breaking Times, an unnamed source who did not want his name in print revealed that the then 26-year old Bartholomew was among three people – including 30-year old Lawal Ojuolape and 29-year old Bernard Ogedengbe – who were notoriously killed by firing squad on allegations of drug trafficking.

The widely condemned killing of the trio in 1985 was criticized because General Buhari back-dated a decree stipulating death sentence for drug trafficking offenders, whereas the alleged crime was committed before he came into power. Buhari changed the law just to kill the three young men.

    …….Why Nigeria need BUHARI…..

we are in a great crisis; we face a lot of challenges. When South Africa was in a great dilemma and was about to disintegrate, they called Nelson Mandela of 74 years old. He used his wisdom to save his country. When the United States was in economic depression, they called 73-year-old Ronald Reagan because he was frugal and incorruptible,” .

“When America was faced with depression and war, they called a retired General, Dwight Eisenhower, to rescue the country and the country was returned on a path of success. When France was faced with war and economic depression, they called a retired General, Charles De Gaulle, to rescue the country,” .

“So what do we need now? Buhari. This is the time for us. General Buhari, whether you are qualified or not qualified, we are calling you to come and rescue us in Nigeria,

    Vote CHaNge…..

I wonder what is wrong with certain sect of people, claiming Buhari will Islamise Nigeria with Sharia laws…let us look at it from this angle why are we afraid of Sharia laws because most people are corrupt and do not want to be judge for offences they committed. All young girls are simply turned to exposing their nudity everywhere even in the public now tell me if a law now comes and punish some bad eggs to stop others from this shameful acts that some elements has turned girls nudity to making money, brainwashing them with western civilization knowledge’s.
I am a christian but looks like Christianity is even failing in teaching younger ones morals like in the past days now Christian leaders engage themselves in aiding and abetting crimes, stealing monies, fornicating about taking advantage of their followers, now what is wrong with all this things been taking serious and letting all this evil people be checked.
Some are saying Buhari kills some certain young men on account of cocaine charges.Let me ask what is Cocaine used for…Cocaine are taken by hired killers and they kill without mercy when they are high on cocaine.Armed robbers performed their operations when they are high on cocaine. Please tell me someone that now make Cocaine available for people is that person not a killer and if such person is punished is that wrong?
Some are afraid because they believe Buhari will bring in Sharia and they will fail in their devilish businesses.
Buhari will not Islamise Nigeria but Buhari will make life difficult for those who gains vast purses from corruption and they are afraid.

I am inclined to say that it is appalling how we have allowed these issues to shift our gaze from the actual need; TRUE CHANGE-TRUE TRANSFORMATION regardless of here it originates from. Between PDP and APC, GEJ or GMB, the bottom line is; when the dust settles what then? Change and Transformation from the cellular level should be our priority. Either we recognize the danger these propaganda are doing or we don’t it does not stop its after effect which will be forcing our innocent children to suffer from. The one reason Humans are still at the top of the Food Chain is the ability to REASON, if not Dolphins should have long taken the throne(after all they use more of their brains than Humans do). But that singular function is rather getting fossilized in Nigeria.
I stand to be corrected but I dare to say I am seeing a dividing line between APC and PDP supporters; PDP sees APC supporters as those who are angry because they are enjoying goodies, while APC supporters are showing the ‘Leave-and-let-us-get-there’ antics. But our main focus should be the BIG picture. I believe PDP has the capacity to cause CHANGE just as APC has the will and power to effect TRANSFORMATION, but if we burn a House to kill a Mouse what then?
For me, all these campaigns, slogans, electioneering and propaganda should come to an end let’s get back to our lives-which by the way we still have a duty live.
Dr. Ope, I appreciate your surgical approach to Documentary, I have also questioned certain issue on the documentary as well, but please I appeal to every Nigerian; Politicians and all: CAN WE JUST VOTE and GET THIS OVER WITH?
    #God Bless Nigeria!

Its Interesting to have seen the documentary myself and then coming to read this observational respite that tells its own first-hand applaudable true stories and ended with dare to any lawsuit.

Obviously, the Documentary is PDP propaganda just as this Observational Respite THE BIG FAT LIES ABOUT AIT ‘the Real Buhari’ an APC propaganda

The Observation defended Buhari to a fault as if he is infallible:

    Two Spinoffs,

    On injustice,
while I’m not so privy to splitting hairs between stealing and fraud, it’s appalling how the Observer rightly deplored Jonathan’s ” only N5m” and in the same statement went on to applaud 15 years jail for N5m as commensurate to a life sentence handed out to one who stole money not enough to buy Volkswagen by saying ,” a government thief is a thief”,

    The simple questions are:
-why not ‘discipline’ all of them with 15 years or all of them with life sentences since a government thief is a thief? (GEJs statement isn’t totally stupid just as the Observers isn’t totally sane)

    – If the observer truly perceived the injustice and so moved to absolve GMB by saying, they were tried by ‘Properly constituted tribunal’, who constituted them? Under whose directive? And if The Zero tolerant Head of States was truly the top man who should be at least as smart as the observer absolving him of spotted injustice, why didn’t he reverse the ABSURD judgements?
-If GMB comes in, why should we not expect more of such injustice, HAS HE ‘CHANGED’? Because we are all witnesses to these types of injustice even in GEJ regime especially among politicians.

    Oh!Too early to conclude

2, on corruption, the observer choose to believe almighty OBJs report absolving GMB on PTF corruption, saying he didn’t benefit but was silent on Buharis family member that was in the corruption link as the same escaped the war against indisciplined. Of course the tough era of the disciplinarian missed out the Generational Corruption of Afri-Projects Consortium because the enormous responsibility was under PTF who was above GMB!

In short, Buhari was responsible because it happened under his nose, how is he then different from Oga Jona, under whose nose corruption goes unchecked?

Those are just two, two perhaps because the Observer and Writer of the 9 BIG FAT LIES OF AIT choose to be silent on the Tompolo-Dokubos-like incendiary statement credited to GMB in the same documentary he was scrutinizing.

I was expecting LIE #10 to be about the statement credited to GMB that , ” if what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by Gods grace, the dog and the Baboon all would be soaked in blood”

And why EXACTLY was the BIG FAT LIE DETECTOR utterly silent out on THAT WHICH AFFECTS THIS 2015 ELECTION ?

Before we get the response to shade of grey, theres yet another one MISSED OUT In the same documentary about GMB, that ” while the Niger-Delta were treated like kings, the Jamatu Ahlis Sunna Lidda Awati Wal-Jihad which some people call Boko haram are being killed and their houses destroyed unlike the special treatment given to Niger Delta Militants, thus is injustice to the Northern Nigeria”

Seriously! This too must be a LIE because it not only condole Boko Haram and condemn Niger Delta Militants but ascribe it government reaction as injustice to the North.

While Im not an expert in meeting out judgment on Unmasked Kidnappers and Suicidal Terrorists, I expect a general fomenting change to know the difference between the two and not to have assumed they MUST be treated the same, even if not treated as kings!

Such statements would have to be denied or ” unsaid” for us not to see THE COMING CHANGE THAT WOULD STOP INSURGENCY AS CROWING THE THE TERRORISTS TOO AS KINGS.

What is this Observer saying about those statements because we are missing out big time on what GMB is saying to refute that statements if he never said it?

I hope not, because if it is, I don’t see myself thumbing my DNA for a Presidential Aspirant who himself made such a treasonable and parochial statements
the one in power who seems too weak to cuff him but would rather allow his parochial natives to threat the response.

Except from Lawlessness to Highhandedness, From Treating corruption with impunity to pious intolerance mistaken for secularist discipline, from sacking Residents Doctors to Dissolving NMA…
From the Scylla to the Charybdis

It behoves on me not to sell my however insignificant but expensive conscience to the cheap pressure not to seat on the fence, it’s a fundamental human right too not to vote!

It’s a shame Nigerians are defending LIARS with their blood. Liars that are beating Big Fat Lie Detector Selectively

    Yes Liars,

GEJ LIED that he would not come for a second term,
GMB LIED that he would not contest after 2011,

WHAT DO Their PIOUS AND SENTIMENTAL DEFENDERS Have to say about that?

Or is it about either not being able to caution their campaign strategists to stop dragging the daughters and wives of their opponents in dirty politics ?

I have so much more against them both, while I m not saying we need a saint to change Nigeria, WHERE SOMEONE HAS FAILED LIKE EVERY OTHER HUMANS, DON’T SWEEP IT UNDER JUST TO MAKE AN ANGEL OF THEM, IT ONLY BRINGS OUT THE UGLY SIDE IN THEM.

For me, while we Expect to see the Real Jonathan that Documentary, The Real Buhari is just too much under PDPs umbrella for APC to keep sweeping!

This is a well reasoned response though you did disagree with me on many points. I am all for divergent of opinions as long as they are backed by some reasoning that makes sense just like your long response did and i salute you for your decorum even in disagreement. Thats how our debates should be. However, the whole idea behind my article is to POINT OUT THE LIES and not to discuss which part is true or to even defend Buhari’s opinions on the points in which he is correctly quoted albeit in the wrong context. .

Iam far from being a blind follower and I definitely Buhari agree Buhari is far from perfect [though he is infinitely better than GEJ in my humble opinion] and the comment about ‘dogs and baboons being soaked in blood’ is a most unfortunate use of words but in context it made sense (and by the way, i did criticise him for those words at the time if you care to research me) but this piece is not about arguing whether Buhari’s correctly quoted comments are justified or not….it is about EXPOSING the SMEAR CAMPAIGN based on lies against him.

I am fine with people taking him, and his supporters like me, on on the FACTS and not on misrepresentation. Hope you get that.
